Johannes Taslim or better known as Joe Taslim is an Indonesian athlete, model, and actor of Chinese descent, he was part of the Indonesian national judo team and won a silver medal at the 2007 SEA Games. 

Taslim had already studied martial arts from an early age. He mastered wushu, judo, taekwondo, and martial arts. However, he preferred Judo and this decision made him a professional judo athlete. He won several gold medals at the national championships, one gold medal at the 1999 Southeast Asian judo championships, and one silver medal at the 2007 SEA Games. Taslim was a member of the Indonesian national judo team from 1997 to 2009. After suffering an injury, he decided to retire.

Taslim was active as a model and actor. He appeared in various magazines, television commercials, and several Indonesian films. From 2008–2009, Joe Taslim participated in several castings to become an actor in the world of cinema, until, In 2010, Taslim landed the role of Jaka, a special forces sergeant in the film The Raid: Redemption, after participating in a series of fistfight auditions. 

After The Raid, Taslim was involved in HBO Asia's first action horror film, Dead Mine, which was released in several Asian countries in September 2012 and premiered on all HBO Asia television channels.

In July 2012, Variety reported that Taslim was involved in the film Fast and Furious 6 (2013). Taslim plays the antagonist Jah, a cold-blooded assassin who uses his martial arts and parkour skills to fight his protagonists, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker). In 2016, Taslim returned to star in the big Hollywood film Star Trek Beyond. In the film, he played an alien character named Manas. In addition, Joe also starred in the action-comedy film Hit & Run, a 2019 Indonesian action-comedy film starring Joe Taslim, Jefri Nichol, Tatjana Saphira, Yayan Ruhian, Chandra Liow, and Nadya Arina in the lead roles. This film is the first action-comedy film in Indonesia.
